What Must I do to be Saved?

  • Realize

You must realize that you are a sinner in need of God’s forgiveness.  It is only when one knows that he is lost does he realize that he must be found.  Romans 3:10, 23 says “There is no one righteous, not even one;” “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  No one has kept God’s law.  At some point or another, we have all broken his law and are now subject to His righteous judgment.  Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death….”  Sin brings death, and thus man is under the curse of sin and death.

  • Repent

Once we realize that we have sinned, and that our sin will bring death, then we must repent.  To repent means to turn around, or turn away from.  The Bible tells us that we must repent from our sins.  Luke 13:3 says “…unless you repent, you will all perish….”

  • Receive

We must repent in order that we might receive Jesus Christ.  God loves us, and has paid the penalty for our sin.  Romans 5:8 says, “But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us!”  We have sinned, and a punishment—death—must be delivered; but God has provided a way!  It is a free gift and there is nothing we can do to deserve it.  Romans 6:23 says that, “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  You must receive Christ alone, by faith alone, to receive God’s gift of salvation.  Eph 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.”  Ask God now to save you from your sins; dedicate your life to Him today.  Romans 10:10, 13 says that, “With the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation.”, “…For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  If this is your desire, call out to Him now.
